I’ve been playing for many years. Very diverse styles – rock, jam, funk (?), “jazz”, percussion, pop. Venues from clubs to church, even toured a few times in Russia and Eastern Europe.
Here’s a sampling:
ROCK: Local bands and backed up a few artists. Most clips below are from mini-tour in Russia. Working with some orphanages there, I was inspired to combine my love of music and travel, so I grabbed some friends, picked our favorite songs, and created a band that raised money for orphanages. An amazing experience that was so successful we did two “tours.”
Unchained: From the studio session above with amazing friend, Holt Vaughn. This is an old Johnny Cash blues song. The album also featured Phil Keaggy, Ashley Cleveland, Will McFarlane, and better drummers 😉
Everlong: Cover of the classic Foo Fighters
The Middle: Jimmy Eat World
Hero: Yeah – another Foo Fighters
JAM BAND: I love improv. These clips are from a group called “Jazz Cow.” We did a very strange mix of originals, blues, jams, and covers. From The Cure, to Radiohead, to Coltrane (I’m not a “real” jazz player). We were nominated best new band, then best jazz band, and were honored to play the famous Brady Theater and Cains Ballroom.
Optimistic: Obscure and beautiful Radiohead song
Fake Plastic Trees: Radiohead cover
Going the Distance: Cake. This song makes me laugh every time.
PERCUSSION: We played clubs, events, and even schools. “Afro-Cuban” is the term for it… I think. (I’m not a percussion expert, and played kit with this group. Learned a lot!)
CCM AND P&W: I’ve gotten to occasionally back up folks like Paul Baloche, Daryl Evans, Kelly Willard, Michael & Lisa Gungor, and many others.
